Mapping REDD+ and Land Use Financial Flows in Brazil

In order to ensure transparency and identify financing gaps and overlaps to improve the understanding around financial flows associated with REDD+ in Brazil, this report presents the mapping results of national and international financial flows from 2009 through 2016, and contains detailed analyses regarding new sources of finance flows that may impact REDD+ goals, including (i) financial commitments to promote low-carbon agriculture and (ii) subnational case studies of the states of Amazonas and Acre.

Contributions to the National REDD+ Strategy (2nd. edition)

This document presents contributions by Brazilian GCF member states for the regulation of a policy for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) in the Brazilian Amazon. The proposal was developed collaboratively and consensually by representatives of the Brazilian GCF states and based on numerous meetings, studies and prior work developed by the states themselves, with assistance from civil society organizations.

(Português) Viabilidade econômica da pecuária semi-intensiva no sul do Amazonas

(Português) O trabalho é fruto de três anos de pesquisa no município de Apuí com o manejo de pastagens. O projeto tem como eixo central o estabelecimento de atividades de base florestal associadas à intensificação da atividade pecuária, baseado no teste e replicação de práticas mais sustentáveis de manejo de pastagens e sistemas silvipastoris. Todos os dados foram coletados no município de Apuí, mas são replicáveis para toda a região sul do Amazonas, que compartilha as mesmas condições ambientais e socioeconômicas.


South America GCF Training Program 2013

This report presents the results of the GCF Jurisdictional REDD+ Training Course, realized at August 19-22, 2013, at Cuiabá, capital of the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. Created through the GCF Training Program, this course put together Brazilian member states Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Pará and Tocantins, along with Peruvian province Madre de Dios.

(Português) Este guia mostra todas as etapas da produção de madeira em pequena escala nas florestas do Amazonas. Ele é dedicado às pessoas que possuem pequenos lotes de terra (até 500 ha) e querem ganhar dinheiro com a produção de madeira de forma sustentável. A partir desse material, o produtor poderá compreender todas as etapas do processo desde o campo até a venda.

Cross learning on Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ in Amazonas

Idesam, in partnership with the Ceclima/SDS and VCSA, hosted, in May 2013, the technical workshop “Technical Exchange on Jurisdictional REDD+”, in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. The event was attended by 15 jurisdictions from Latin America and Africa, and also key-stakeholders deeply engaged with the design of jurisdictional frameworks for REDD+. The main outcomes of this workshop are presented in this final report.

Proposal of a Statewide REDD+ System in Amazonas

This report was prepared by the Institute for Conservation and Sustainable Development of Amazonas (IDESAM), Forest Trends and Carbon Decisions International (CDI), with technical support from the State Climate Center of Amazonas (CECLIMA) and financial support from KfW. It is a product of the project “Study of opportunities for REDD+ Initiatives in the South/Southeast of the State of Amazonas”.

The report presents proposals for structuring a State-wide REDD+ System (SisREDD+) in Amazonas, as well as key elements for integrating state REDD+ systems into the National REDD+ System in Brazil. The report includes a broad analysis of all laws, programs and regulations related to REDD+ that are already in force or currently in discussion at the national and sub-national levels in Brazil.

Estudo jurííico sobre sistemas subnacionais de REDD+

A publicação, desenvolvida no âmbito da Força Tarefa dos Governadores para o Clima e Florestas (GCF), tem como objetivo principal analisar a legislação existente e viabilidade dos estados quanto à possibilidade jurídica de criação e implantação de sistemas subnacionais (estaduais) de REDD+, abordando a competência legislativa dos entes da federação sobre o tema meio ambiente, incluindo a questão referente à mudança de clima e conservação florestal.
